FRP Walkway, Stair, and Platform Systems

Structural Fiberglass, Inc. designs, details and fabricates to your specification and/or requirements. Our Engineers design per your specific work loads, widths and heights. Units are shop assembled and shipped in maximum size sections to minimize field installation.

Design

Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Walkways, Platforms and Stairways are designed, engineered and custom fabricated by Structural Fiberglass Incorporated (SFI) in accordance with OSHA standards, Section 1910.24, entitled "Fixed Industrial Stairs".

SFI FRP Walkways, Platforms and Stairways are fabricated from fiberglass pultrusions that have a Class 1 fire retardance, with an ASTM E-84 flame spread rating of 25 or less.

Molded or Pultruded FRP Grating may be used on SFI Walkways, Stairways and Platform Systems.

Materials

SFI Walkways, Platforms and Stairways are fabricated from FRP pultrusions with a fire retardant polyester resin, 50% glass content and a surface veil for protection against ultraviolet attack and a "Gray" color.

Framing and Stringers = 8" x 3/8" or 10" x 1/2" Channel.  

Posts and Clips = 3" x 3" x 3/8" Angle.

Ledgers = 3" x 3" x 3/8" Angle.

Connection Hardware = Type 304 stainless steel, 1/2" diameter bolts, nuts and washer.

FRP Grating = 1", 1 1/2" or 2" deep panels, Molded or Pultruded FRP grating, with non-skid abrasive grit surface.

FRP Stair Treads = 1 1/2" deep Molded or Pultruded FRP stair treads, with nonskid abrasive grit surface and wide nosing.

Grating Hardware - stainless steel saddle clips with stainless steel self-tapping fasteners.
